Not Alan (Franschhoek Eikhof) 26/5/2019
Probably Janet (Franschhoek Mooi River at FarahalDahab) 3/9/21
Accidentally Lynda (FarahalDahab Gaudium Auri) 10/6/23
known as just “Alan” unless he’s being naughty (almost never) this wonderfu, derpy, loyal, handsome, clever, silly, gentle soul is in love with the whole world and everyone in it.
He particularly loves babies, children, puppies and elderly or vulnerable people. He seems to innately understand who needs him the most and will sit with them for hours, radiating calm.
He’s not a part of my breeding lines but this beautiful soul deserves an introduction anyway.
Known just as “Janet” unless shes being naughty (often) my beautiful, clever naughty girlie was such a challenge as a youngster.
I’d never had such an intelligent dog in my life, and the consequence of her intelligence was that she was often 5 steps ahead of me when training.
We stuck with it though and she is now an absolute delight.
Easily the best retrieve, the fastest, the most agile and the most intuitive of any dog I’ve ever had in my family, she then proved with her first litter that she’s also the best mother of any bitch I’ve ever had.
Her 2023 litter was simply stunning; 11 healthy, chunky puppies (9 girls and 2 boys) who she fed with almost no assistance until they were being weaned.
The entire litter were so calm and chilled, all of them making me proud from day one in their new families.

The girl I chose to keep from Janet’s 2023 litter, “Lynda” unless she’s being naughty (here and there) is an absolutely stunning dog.
The first thing that literally everyone says when seeing her for the first time is how gorgeous she is.
The depth of colour in her coat, her expression, her confirmation and the set of her ears are incredibly eye-catching.
Like the majority of her litter, Lynda is an absolute snuggle bug. Happiest when curled up in a lap or alongside one of the family in bed. I hope this is something she’ll pass on to her own puppies when she has her first litter in 2025.
Accidentally Lynda’s health tests are not yet completed, but her DNA results are already back, giving us stage 1 of her testing for breeding.

My kennel name, Farah al Dahab is an Arabic translation of the phrase “Joy of Gold” as I felt this best described what my golden retrievers have brought into the world.
So for the first litter after registering the kennel name I decided to translate the phrase into as many languages as I could which remaining writhing the 24 letters allowed for a registered puppy name.
Consequently the whole 2023 litter were (translated to English) called “Joy of Gold, Joy of Gold”
